Tesamorelin is a growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) analog that stimulates the pituitary to release growth hormone naturally, rather than introducing GH from outside the body. The molecule was originally FDA-approved as Egrifta to reduce excess visceral fat in HIV-associated lipodystrophy, and that trial program is why it has more human data behind it on visceral fat specifically than any other secretagogue.
